Art experience assignment- Jung Do-jun

At the first time, I saw the Korean artist Jung Do-Jun’s work; Heaven, Earth, and Man I think it is full of creativity, unique and very powerful. His work is unalike other artist, he leave a huge space on the painting and using very simple ink drawing horizontal stripe to show the meaning underneath the painting. Moreover, the big red dot on the centre top of the picture just simply makes the picture standing out from other paintings. I really like the way he present his thought.
Works by Korean master calligrapher Jung Do-jun will be seen for the first time in the United States and exhibited extensively throughout the world, Do-jun's works utilize a wide range of media and formats. Do-jun is an established author, instructor, and holds numerous memberships in art organizations. He has received commissions for memorial tablets and inscriptions at imperial palaces in Seoul.
After I read the informed perspective, my opinion about the Korean calligrapher does not change that much because the only it matter is his work not his background. His background does not affect me at all. Moreover, his work is excellent; therefore, there is no reason for me to change my mind after I read the information about him.

no more cheesy cell phone

The artist Doffing, who runs San Francisco art gallery Start SOMA, is betting he's not the only one. Clip-art-style services that is the newest way of forming the art. And he launched his own wallpaper website “Start Mobile” in January. He said it will serve as an various source of cell-phone art for those who prefer pop and street art to kitties and puppies. The cell-phone wallpaper market brought in around $100 million this year, according to Julie Ask, a wireless analyst with Jupiter Research. However, many customers actually want the images Doffing sees as cheesy, and analysts predict the market could stagnate or decline in the future, she said. This is a sharp contrast to phone products like games and ring tones, whose sales are on the rise. Therefore, he decides to devote into the clip-art on the cell phone market.
The cell phone market is very enormous and as the number of consumer is keep increasing and the technology of the cell phone is keep improving, the basic and normal style of the cell phone can not satisfy the consumer anymore. Therefore, those cell phone company are trying to re-design and forming the new style or they even follow the trend in the fashion field in order to attract more consumer. As the number of the cell phone users is keep increasing now, the appearance of the cell phone is not the only concern that attracts the consumer. Moreover, the company starts to produce some limit edition cell phone or corporate with other famous fashion brands. For example, the one of the biggest cell phone company LG is promoting a new cell phone which is corporate with the world famous fashion brand PARDA to produce a all touch screen cell phone, and it also is the limit edition. Consumer is so crazy about it. Therefore, from this example we can see that Cell Phone Company will using some special attraction to push the consumer to buy something they do not need.

the artist's view of technology

The artist, Nancy Worthington’s art combines hands-on entertainment with social observations and educational content which bringing humanity to technology through art. She embraces viewer sharing and emphasizing that through physical involvement. Her work reflects human conflict with nature and with our technological civilization. A vital part of this art is the exposure Worthington gives to the ambiguity, inconsistency and polarity of the human condition and it’s of social and psychological sting. Her images become a catalyst to awaken consciousness and to facilitate change through awareness for a better, more humane world.
After read this article that makes me feels more concern with the conflict condition and the problem underneath the technology and human society. Usually the view of the artist can reflect the question underneath the society and the problem that they point out is usually very concretive and serious. There are tons of examples that show the divergence situation of the improvement of technology and the shocked society. For example, that the cell phone is greatest invention in recent year and it is dramatic influence people’s daily life on positive side and negative side. Cell phone indeed helps improving the convenient of the communication. However, the over usage of the modern technology that might makes people think it is enough just communicate by the cell phone and forget that the face to face talk is much important for the people. Therefore, even though, technology is high-tech toady we still need to remember and aware the problem that might occurred by the modern technology.

Creative Spirituality Reflection

In my point of view that there are some many different definition of the spirituality, but for me , as I am a Taiwanese , that I believe everything has its own spirit even the stone and water does. So, we should respect every different spirits. And I also believed that spirit can represent the innate character of things. Therefore, I believe that the spirituality is everything.

The answer for this question is probably it depends because in the western culture, they do not believe that everything has its own spirit, and they think that is so ridiculous to believe it. However, for the eastern culture such as Chinese and Japanese, they believe everything has its spirit; therefore they even worship the stone and regard it as the god which can protect them. So, I believe spirituality differ from religion.

it is hard to define creativity but in my personal opinion that I think the creativity is something about how the people can expand their imagination. In some research shows that the creativity is involves with the development of the person’s childhood, there are tons of example can shows it, for example, the child always drawing something is so out of the sense but actually, that’s the children creativity .
There are tons of sources of creativity, the daily experience or the experience of traveler can all provide the source, especially, the experience of traveler because the traveler means people get away from their routine life and start to adopt something new and unique and which can inspire people’s imagination and providing more various thoughts for the people. Therefore, I believe that is the great source of the creativity.

Asian Horror

Asian Horror is the new term appears on the horror movie recently. It is new horror movie type come from Asia; it is mainly focus on creating the mood and discerning the story behind the serial killer or the ghosts in order to point out the reason of everything to reaming and warning the audiences. Moreover, it usually involves with the Asian country’s tradition and cultures. That could attract more audiences because in those Asian horror movies is not only can entertaining but also can learn something useful from it. I believe it is why the Asian horror is so popular in Hollywood now.
The area covers by the Asian horror are mainly included: Taiwan, China, Korea, Japan and Thailand. These five countries are the places produced most of the movies in Asia. As the technology of the movie is keep improving today and the convenient of internet. Those Asian countries can easily adapt to the new technology and improving the quality of the movies which makes the audiences around the world have more choice beside the Hollywood movies. The movie which produced in Asia is different from America because the style, story and type of the character are so unique that is so easy to catch the people’s eyes and I believe that is the main reason why the Asian horror is so popular all over the world now. Unalike, the Hollywood movie is full of the violence and bloody sense. The Asian movie is more looking forward on the meaning on the story which can sort of educated people and learning something such as how to interact with other, and we should do something good for others. Therefore, that is the main reasons why people are so crazy about Asian horror.

the history of horror

“Since w-a-a-a-a-y back before cinema was even invented, man has always enjoyed the thrill that goes with the sudden shock and prolonged anxiety experienced when we're afraid.”(). This quite is entirely summarizing the points why horror movies are so attractive for people. Moreover, as time changed the content like the plot and characters appear in the movie also changed. For example, at the beginning, the most of character appear in the horror movie is like vampire or the monster in the fart tales such as the Frankenstein or witches. Those are the very famous and traditional characters that would appear on the horror movies.
However, as time changed, the serial killer replaces Frankenstein. Nowadays, the taste of the audiences are altered, they prefer something more violence and bloody. The traditional monster in the fray tales can not satisfy them anymore. They are look forward the more serious visual excitement. Therefore, those movies company put more factor of violence on the movies to attract more audiences. But, I think that could cause a huge problem on the society. Horror is the most of teenager’s favorite type of movies but like the problem that I mention previously that the horrors of today is over violence and bloody for the teenager and that might bring out some negative effects for them because they are not so mature mentally, moreover, they do know how to control themselves. Therefore, the aggression on the movie could influence the way they think further effect the way they behaved. Therefore, I think people should seriously and carefully think about this problem and perhaps we should strongly protest to the company ask them to limit the violence in the movie in order to protect our children.
